I have a 1997 Acura 2.5 TL and im unsure if the timing belt was ever replaced. on average how long does a timing belt last|||Travis is correct. Replace at the manufacturer's recommended mileage. Usually 60,000 to 75,000 miles. If you don't have it replaced and it breaks it will do major engine damage on this vehicle. This vehicle has an interference engine according to Gates (link below) meaning the valves will hit the pistons if the belt breaks or slips. Bent valves ar expensive and a timing belt is cheap in comparison.
http://www.gates.com/part_locator/index.鈥?/a>|||a good 3 years|||they usually break at 130,000 miles so do it before hand. Not fun when they break and you need to buy a new motor.|||Most models with timing belts recommend replacement at every 75,000 miles in the maintenance schedules.|||timing belts should be done every 60,000 miles. some manufacturers will say 75,000 miles, but id never run the risk of letting one go that long. if a timing belt snaps, an engine rebuild is on the cards, so for the sake of a couple hours labour its always better to be safe than sorry. if your not confident of the condition of the belt, change it.
