Does BMW have a life time warranty for seat belts?
The latch mechanism in the driver seat belt receptacle in my 2001 330i (BMW) is not working. I checked to see if anything was jammed in it and there wasn't. The button doesn't spring up at all. Someone said that seat belts have life time warranties? Is that true for BMW? The only thing I could find in my warranty manual about it was for Kansas and I'm in California. If BMW doesn't have life time coverage, where could I find an inexpensive replacement seat belt receptacle? If I have to pay for one, I'd rather not go to the BMW dealership...they're way too expensive.

Seat belt Issue On 2000 Ford Windstar?
Hello all! I was driving today and had to stop hard because of an idiot driver. My wife almost hit her face on the dashboard! I pulled over to check the seat belt and the lock mechanism doesn't work! Does ford warranty safety items such as the seat belt for life? Also i checked all the seat belts and found that rear belts are not working as well! I always drive my family in this vehicle. However by your description the belt stayed attached, the piece that locks it however didn't hold. Meaning a new seat belt and as others have said, Ford's warranty is only 5 year 50,000 miles for that year|||I had the same issue but with my 2004 mustang. The backseat and driver belt were not working so i went to the dealer and they had them replaced...they have to take out the whole belt and mechanism. Its about a 2-3 hour job.
They should just replace them, just dont tell them about the hard braking you did just tell them that you bought the car there and that you find it ridiculous that such a integral safety feature would fail and if they can replace it. because if you get into a wreck and die and they find the seat belt faulty they could potential;ly be held liable for your death.|||Yes there was a recall on the buckles, check with your local dealer and have your 17 digit VIN handy to see if yours is under it.|||yeah there was a big recall with ford seat belts in that year, i had to get get mine removed and replaced

We went and got our tires balanced and rotated today. We were told we have a broken belt. Is that dangerous?
We still have 33% life left on the tires and it will cost about 1K to replace the tires. I would hate to lose that much tire life if it is not dangerous. It is for a 2003 Dodge Ram Pick Up.|||Broken belts are a very serious concern, which could cause a blow out. Try replacing two tires at a time to keep cost down.|||Slipped or broken belts are very dangerous. They will not can lead to a blow out. But there is hope you only need to replace the tire with the slipped belt. I don't know what brand tires you have but most tire manufactures cover slipped belts as part of the mileage warranty. If possible take it to the place you bought them, unless that was the place that told you about the slipped belt and then put it back on your vehicle. Shop around you don't have to buy the same brand tire unless ascetics are important.|||You don't have to replace them all, just the one with the broken belt, The broken belt could cause a blowout.|||Go some where else.

(For the record - I am not personally in this situation! ;)|||My first item would be providing a stable home life for my sister who has Downs Syndrome. She has been moved from pillar to post and lived with various families over the past couple of years because my parents were incapable of caring for her. I would take her into my home and just love her to bits. She's pretty stressed out at the moment and is not doing well physically.
Secondly, I want to learn a new language and after asking some of the people on here have decided I will learn both Mandarin and Sign Language. So that is my goal for the next several years, when I get an opportunity.
I want to get my pilots license. You know - not a fighter jet license or an airliner license, just for small aircraft. If I had the money, as in your 'lottery' scenerio, I would buy my own plane and once I had my license I would fly it alot.
I would like to go to the Mayan and Inca ruins with my husband and other ancient sites.
Swimming with dolphins would be another goal - I don't know why. I just think they're lovely and I love swimming so it would be nice - at least before they all die off with the pollution in the oceans.
I would love to be involved full time in some charitable organization by volunteer work. Campaigning to fight environmental meltdown and/or save endangered species.

Give some to charity, especially towards therapy for children who are abused. And what's left of it, I'd start a business, a viable one. And if I was so deeply in love with my husband, I'd have babies with him, bring up our children as good people and grow old with him and hope to meet him again next life. ;-)|||To live as long as I can to enjoy these things|||Try to find a way to decrease/prevent child abuse. Am I going to die if I drive without PUTTING-ON my SAFETY-BELT? How FAST the car TO KILL the driver鈥?
I have no driving-license or car, that鈥檚 why I鈥檓 kinda confused here鈥?is it lethal to drive like that? How about riding a motorcycle without helmet to wear?
Why should I do that?
PS: Please don鈥檛 make joke of my questions鈥? I鈥檓 deathly serious and it鈥檚 matter of life or death here!!!|||Seat belts save lives, and motorcycles are unsafe at any speed. In the ER we call motorcycle drivers "organ donors."|||Its definitely much more likely! So why chance it?|||It's either you die or be fatally injured (and usually end up in comatose). I think that 20 km/h (don't know how much would that be on mph) is enough to knock an average weight person against the winshield (if sitting in front) or windows, and maybe rarely break the glass. Now DO NOT try going for 100 km/h or over WITHOUT PUTTING ON SEAT BELTS because you are going to fly right through the windshield. Also, when this happens, you risk being run over by the traffic on the road. Furthermore the car can also turn over on its roof.
As for motorcycles, they often slide to one side when the driver loses control and you run the risk of banging your head and crushing one or both your legs.
MORAL: ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY BELTS AND HELMETS (MOTORCYCLES ONLY) AND DO NOT DRIVE W/O LICENSE.|||You can die in crashes at speeds as low as 15 or 20 mph or survive one at speeds of 120 mph. You'll never know until you have it. Same for motorcycles without helmets. Neither one is very intelligent IMHO|||The reason that they put safety devices in place is that sometime in the past people have been seriously injured or killed. Why would you consider not using them?
There are a number of factors involved in this question that go beyond a simple 'fatal' speed. If you are colliding with another vehicle it is the total of both of your speeds; if your doing 30 and the other vehicle is doing 30 that's like hitting a stationary object doing 60!
If you are in a collision that is serious enough to knock your hands away from the wheel you lose care and control of your vehicle and are a hazard to yourself and others; you could end up in oncoming traffic, going off the road into a river/pole/building, hitting a pedestrian etc.
Unless you have a medical reason for not buckling up and have a Dr.s letter to prove it you can be charged where I live.

He was having sex with his ex only three months after we were married. So I told him to leave. I have been jumped 4 times and never hurt because of my Judo Training.
My dad taught me and he always said that everyone knows how to strike and you can land a lucky blow and learn the very basics of boxing very quick. But Learning how to take a fight to the ground and how to fight correctly on the ground is what seperates you from the average person.
He learned from my grandfather who was a marine and learned in japan after the korean war.
So any art that shows you how to take someone down and fight on the ground I feel is the best for Self defense.|||God, I get sick of this question ...

Do the people really want less government intervention in their life?
The reason I ask is like in the future it looks like it is going to be that way, for example on those Star Trek shows no one ever has a seat belt on and when something happens they always get bounced around. It's like maybe we do need seat belts even in the future.|||I can only speak for myself and I really want less government|||I would like fewer rules and the freedom to make bad decisions, but most people seem to want to tell other people how to live more than they want fewer rules for themselves. If someone would rather be bounced around than wear a seat belt, I do not think the government make them.

After you use the bathroom, do you use your dirty hand to pull your pants back up and tighten your belt?
After you go #2, do you use both hands to pull your pants back up and re-secure your belt even though one of those hands is dirty? I'm kind of OCD when it comes to bathroom stuff, so I just use my left hand, the "clean" hand (I'm right-handed), to pull my pants back up and tighten my belt, so I don't have to use the hand I just wiped with before washing it. However, it gets difficult to do it one-handed all the time, and I am wondering if this is normal, or if I just need to be at peace with letting a little bit of dirtiness into my life.|||It's not normal or abnormal.... it's understandable.
This is what I do: after #2, I stand, use my left hand and my right THUMB to pull my pants up... then I finish off using my left hand to zip up and loop belt. If you can't finish the belt buckle, leave it till after you've washed your hands.

So carry around antibacterial cleaner. place the cleaner where you can easily access it after you have wiped and then once you have finished wiping use the cleaner. then pull up your pants and go wash the bottle and your hands once again. hopefully you are flexible and agile enough to open the door with your feet otherwise you are touching the door which others have touched their stuff with. use the paper towel if there is one available to open the door. or just pull up your pants and dont touch them again?

I keep having this dream where I walk outside my house onto the street and see a little boy running. The boy looks to be about 5, and a crazy middle-aged man is after him with a belt and a knife. Somehow, I am very strong, faster than the man, and can run for hours. With these skills, I scoop up the child and run for miles. I run even until the old man gets tired and stops chasing us. I keep on running and running until I wake up, and even when I wake up, I'm running!|||Yes, but I saved my own life. As far as saving someone else, I am a total flop

I just read a whole lot of stuff about Brenda Song. She's a black-belt in TaekWonDo, she graduated from high school at an age of 16, and a major in Psychology from University of California, Berkeley. Seat belts - life time warranty?
I dont know if this is true or false, but I have heard that the automotive safety department in the government requires that seat belts be warrented for life. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not? I have a 1983 Toyota SR5 Truck that I bought brand new and want to now fix it up. The buckle portion seems inoperatable now.|||Seats belts are made of woven plastics. (Nylon? some blend?)
All materials, to include plastics, have a certain half-life. The seat belts in my (Army) helicopter had a date stencilled on them, in approximately inch-high letters. The belts had to be replaced before that date. It was regulation.
Why this is not so for civilian cars is beyond me. I do understand, though, that after about three years, any seat belt will probably fail at half it's originally rated impact speed.
The bottom line? "Don't hit nothing!" %26lt;g%26gt;
As for the buckle, if it's gone, that's a good indication you need to replace the entire belt. If it doesn't work, it cannot be (legally) driven.

Can a 98 Ford Escort be driven 75+ miles without serpentine belt?
A friend of mine has a 98 Escort wagon that has a problem with shredding the serpentine belt. The car is stuck about 75 miles from where he lives. If I bring a bunch of spare batteries, would it be safe for him to drive the car home? I believe the water pump is driven by the timing belt on the 2 liter SPI engine, so I think it would be ok that way.|||I don't think you will get very far on a missing belt. Also, I have a friend that worked as a Ford Tech for 35 years. The number one reason for shredded belts on a Ford vehicle is a bad power steering pump.|||You are right, the timing belt does drive the water pump. BUT. and this is a big but, don't use any accessories, lights, turn signals( if you can get away with it) radio, and AC. A fully charged batteries should get you 75 miles without a problem. Power steering might be a little stiff.
The idler or tensioner is bad and causing the belt to be thrown.

but for about $100 you can get a year of premier AAA and they will tow you 4 times...200 miles, and 3x 100 miles. its the best 100 you will ever spend.

How exactly do you "belt" a song?
I am a singer/dancer/actress that has hopes of being on broadway someday. The only problem is that my voice isnt quite suited for a broadway setting. I have sung with nothing but my head voice my whole life and I have heard many broadway performances and most of the singers are "belters". What I want to figure out is how you do this because This would make me a better vochalist and all around stage performer and possibly help me land a role on broadway when I get older (im only 13 years old).|||Belting is bringing the chest voice into the head. It is very hard to explain but when you hear it or do it, you will immediatly recognize the belting technique.
I would not recommend trying to belt if you are not a natural belter without the supervision of an experienced vocal teacher. When done propery belting does not harm your voice, but it is very easy to slip into unhealthy habits while belting and screw up your voice.
You also have a few years before you really need to focus on belting, even if you want to go onto Broadway. I would suggest getting a firm base in legitimate/classical singing for a few years before focussing on belting. A good classical base goes a long way towards healty and strong vocalism. But classical training does not mean you have to only sing arias and art songs. Most of the older (pre 1960's) musical theatre music is written for legitimate singers.|||You either can or you can't. If you can't, then skip it and do something else. If your voice isn't a belter then it isn't. Move on.|||from the belly.|||Belting can be hard at first, especially for a young singer. There is no instant fix...it takes practice, which I am sure you are willing to do.
1 - Work on your diaphragm muscle. This is the muscle just below your lungs that controls your breathing. You need to strengthen this muscle to get the power and control in your voice. Take a piece of toilet tissue and separate the layers. Take one layer and hold it up against a wall. Blow a continuous stream of air that is strong enough to hold the tissue to the wall (when you remove your hand). Work on holding that paper up for as long as you can. It's hard! Try 5 seconds, 10 seconds, up to 30 seconds.
2 - Get loud. Use an "eeee" sound and an "ahhhh" sound. Your voice will crack and your throat will get sore at first. Stand with your feet at shoulder's width. Hold a note at a loud volume for as long as you can. Over and over, until you stop cracking. You have to push past the cracking to get it to stop. Push the air from your diaphragm (belly). Try to release the strain in your throat and concentrate the strain in your abdominals. Try lying down on the floor as you sing, which kicks the diaphragm into gear.
3 - Focus on the tone. Now that you can be loud, pay attention to the quality. Are you yelling? Screaming? Stop. Relax the throat. Start to drawn air in by pulling down your diaphragm in your mind and pushing your stomach and guts down because your lungs are filling. As you exhale try opening your vocal chords and let air by freely but control the flow with your diaphragm and not by closing your chords... let out a huuhhh noise as you do this. The breathiness of the "h" sound does not let your chords shut. These excersizes will help you learn to project better and support your breath. I would not recommend trying to belt if you are not a natural belter without the supervision of an experienced vocal teacher. When done propery belting does not harm your voice, but it is very easy to slip into unhealthy habits while belting and screw up your voice.
You also have a few years before you really need to focus on belting, even if you want to go onto Broadway. I would suggest getting a firm base in legitimate/classical singing for a few years before focussing on belting. A good classical base goes a long way towards healty and strong vocalism. But classical training does not mean you have to only sing arias and art songs. Most of the older (pre 1960's) musical theatre music is written for legitimate singers.|||You either can or you can't. I'm a black belt (I quit last year though) and although I'm fast, agile and deliver lightning speed quick kicks in the dojo. I really made a fool out of myself at school. A simple roundhouse to his head would have been much more efficient. In a fight, you don't have time to do flashy moves, It takes an 8th of a second to perceive and action and respond depending on how good your reflexes are. This means there's no time for moves that take a second long to execute.
Besides, you probably went to some small mcdojo. Any real black belt would be wise enough to know this. No offense. Look for a better place and try again. people don't become MMA champions because their art doesn't work.|||From my experience, its because Tae kwon do people, place such an over emphasis on kicking, it makes the art impractical.
I have fought a few TKD fighters at different levels. I find them easy to read, and because they kick so much, they are often off balance (as you were when you fell over) and so are either easy to sweep over or they fall over by them selves. Plus they get knackered from throwing there legs around so much. Also, you generally need plenty of space to pull the moves off and if you try to do kicks at close range they are not as effective and you will tend to lose balance.
I would recommend trying a more rounded martial art or perhaps mma.

Im guessing from your saying you were slow, out of time and tripped over yourself, that your failure may in part be down to you quitting last year.
As with all things, if you are not practicing them often, your skills and abilities will deteriorate over time.
Also a spinning flying kick is not really practical outside of a martial arts fight. In a real fight, stick to the simple effective moves. The more complicated you make the move the more chance it has of failure. Personally i would never spin in a street fight. Certainly never a spinning flying kick.
The dojo and the real world are two completely different things. Most martial traditional martial arts would need some modification for a "street fight". In a street fight it's all about what works, and in particular what works fast and hard. Minimum complication = best chance. Why spin and jump when surely a standing kick is going to be faster and have a greater chance of landing?
If you were trying to impress people with your kick (and i'm not saying you were) then i can understand why you chose that kick, but again i think you quitting last year may have played a large part in your failure to land the kick.

i sparred a guy, tried a flying double kick on me, i just stepped aside, and punched him in the ribs on his way by, it was rather easy to do, because of how slow the technique was, and how much movement the technique involved.

Some people misunderstand Taekwondo for all of the "fancy" kicks, when really it's just getting you and your mind better equipped and prepared for more simple kicks and blows in a real fight.|||i think it down to individual, if you gonna kick someone in the head youv'e gotta be kicking faster than he can react to the movement,best to practise on drunks they easy targets. lol but seriously whilst i was on tour in iraq last year we had bit o trouble with crowds an one guy kept pushing obviously u dont shoot unarmed guys, an i dealt him a beauty of a back kick put him on his ***. so in general i go buy the rules that if you gonna kick dont go above the waist and dont ever go for any kinda jump techniques, but at the end of the day a kick is a devestating weapon if done correctly,but like the other guys have said mix it up, fill your arsenal with every type of skill you can get then go back and wup that guys ***. lol
p.s i also in uk and yeah WTF beats ITF anyday.|||because in a real fight when your adrenaline is pumping, and you convert to your natural reflexes. Some water does drop in with these comets and maybe asteroids, I don't know. Why does it matter?|||I think most of it has to do with the formation of the atmosphere. The atmosphere returns certain moisture to the earth or what not over long periods of time until they reach that certain point.|||when earth was a massive melting sphere of elements about 300 million yrs ago the moon crashed into the earth. this shattered both planets hurling the wounded smaller moon and debrie into our solar system, after the planets settled the frozen debrie from our solar system began to pull back to earth due to gravity. As the debrie fell the ice melted filling the gorge's of the earth which in time created what u see now

These storms seem to be effecting mainly the Bible Belt.
When the hurricane struck New Orleans some so-called "Christians" said it was because the "decadence" of the city and homosexuality.
So why is the pious "Bible Belt" under such siege?|||Because you touch yourself at night. xD
No but really, it's just nature. Christians are being idiots and trying to profit from every disaster saying it's a punishment.|||Most of the bible belt is also the tornado belt, neither hurricanes nor tornadoes are the wrath of God they are natural meteorological phenomena.
However those who believe storms and natural disasters are God's wrath against the sin of the region would simply argue that the storms were caused by God registering His love for mankind by punishing the sinners in that region, the ones that survived were clearly righteous and the ones who sinned must have done something wrong.
The vast majority of Christians don't view natural disasters as God's wrath by the way.|||Some places will have more of a bad thing as weather just due to location.
